I left the engineering field to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming an artist. My experience as an electrical engineer was rewarding and enjoyable. I worked mostly in the medical field and have a U.S. patent for one of my inventions.

I begin with a drawing, trying to capture what I see as closely as possible, with particular care for getting the values right. Every aspect of a painting gets my attention. There's something especially interesting to me about compositions with an element that leads the eye off the canvas. My subjects usually carry a human quality, and I'm drawn to things that have been handled a lot — objects that show their wear and tear. What I'm after, ultimately, is a tuned in, saturated reality.
