My focus is on color, texture, and surface quality, resulting in work that is simultaneously minimalist and organic, creating a tension between restraint and abandon.

Josanne was born in Maine, and raised in northern California. She settled in Utah as an adult for skiing. She worked as a human resources professional for nearly thirty years, ending her career as vice president for an international firm. Although she studied art before leaving the corporate world, she came to art as an avocation late in the game. Jasann's lifelong passion for fibers first led her to weaving on a manual floor loom. Years later, she attended painting sessions with a well-known and honored Utah artist, going to her studio on a weekly basis - a study and practice that lasted five years. In Josann's current techniques, including her work with wool, has been largely self-taught through her experimentation.
